Minister for Agriculture Jaala Pulford has announced the extension of Brian Hine as Chair of the Game Management Authority (GMA).

Mr. Hine has over 35 years of experience in the public sector that spans land management, health and human services, local government and emergency services.

Mr. Hine’s reappointment through to mid-2020 will enable him to continue leading the implementation of the Andrews Government’s Sustainable Hunting Action Plan.

“Mr. Hine has proven to be a very capable leader of the GMA and his continuation in this role will ensure good game management and effective hunting regulation for Victoria.” Minister for Agriculture Jaala Pulford said.

“We will continue working hard to ensure that people who want to hunt responsibly, can do so.”

Sustainable Hunting Action Plan includes promoting responsible hunting, improving hunting opportunities, and maximising the economic, environmental and social benefits of this popular recreation.

Victoria has more than 50,000 hunters who contribute an estimated $439 Million into towns and regional centres across Victoria, supporting around 3,500 jobs.

“Government’s Sustainable Hunting Action Plan is the platform to continue guiding recreational hunting in Victoria in a direction that is safe, sustainable and responsible.” Game Management Authority Chair Brian Hine said.

Minister for Agriculture Jaala Pulford is currently seeking expressions of interest to fill the remaining positions on the Board from 1 July 2017. Applications for these positions close on Friday, 17 March.
