Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra and South Coast Gareth Ward and Member for South Coast Shelley Hancock have today announced that art practitioners across the Illawarra and South Coast are being invited to apply for three New South Wales (NSW) Government fellowships dedicated to support regionally based artists.

Mr. Ward said that three $50,000 Regional Arts Fellowships will offer regional artists and arts and cultural workers a great opportunity to broaden their talent and skills.

“The Illawarra and South Coast is home to some of the State’s most talented artists and through these fellowships they will be able to further develop their skills and career.” Mr. Ward said.

“The New South Wales Government is proud to offer these fellowships to artists at any stage of their careers, to help them continue contributing to local communities and providing audiences with high-quality arts and cultural experiences.” Mr. Ward said.

Mrs. Hancock said that the fellowships are a great opportunity for artists based in regional New South Wales, including the South Coast and Illawarra, to further develop their careers.

“We are committed to supporting initiatives in regional areas to develop thriving local arts scenes and ensure people can experience cultural activities no matter where they live.” Mrs. Hancock said.

“Artists and arts and culture workers based in regional New South Wales play a pivotal role in developing local cultural communities and our Government is proud to support them through the New South Wales Regional Arts Fellowship program.” Mrs. Hancock said.

2016 Regional Arts Fellowship applications close on Tuesday 2nd August, 2016.
