Minister for Primary Industry and Resources Ken Vowles today launched the 2017 Annual Geoscience Exploration Seminar (AGES) program.

Minister Vowles said AGES is the Territory’s premier exploration event and a key element of the Territory Government’s efforts to attract and support resources exploration by providing state of the art geoscience information and data.

“This Government recognises the importance of the minerals and resources sectors as vital contributors to our economy, creating jobs for Territorians.” Minister Vowles said.

“We understand that a secure and rewarding job is the best way to improve our quality of life and that’s why this Government is investing in job creation right across the Territory.”

“AGES provide many opportunities to develop the exploration and mining sectors in the Northern Territory (NT) and help support regional economies in centres such as Tennant Creek.”

“This Government is investing in the revitalisation of Tennant Creek as the major mining, minerals and gas services centre of the Territory.” Minister Vowles said.

AGES is a technical conference for industry to access the latest in fresh exploration ideas and geoscientific data from the Territory and to network with colleagues who share an interest in the discovery and development of the Territory’s minerals and oil and gas resources.

Key highlights for AGES 2017 include:

  • An overview of recent minerals and petroleum exploration activity, highlights and trends in the Territory
  • Presentations on gold exploration and geology from the Tanami, Tennant Creek and Pine Creek
  • New geoscience data and information under the Territory’s CORE initiative
  • Release of details of major new upcoming geoscience programs in the Territory under the Commonwealth’s Exploring for the Future program

2017 AGES Conference will also highlight the results of innovative geoscience programs by the NT Geological Survey to identify resource potential and support industry exploration across the Territory.

AGES will be held at the Alice Springs Convention Centre on 28-29 March 2017.
