Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data released today show that the trend of near record employment continues with 245,500 Tasmanians in work, Treasurer Peter Gutwein said.

“Since the Hodgman Government was elected 10,300 jobs have been created.”

“We have put in place a number of policies to boost the economy and create jobs, including a $25 Million package to help younger Tasmanians join the workforce.” Treasurer Gutwein said.

“We stand by our record on job creation. Under the last Labor-Green Government the unemployment rate peaked at well over 8 % and in the depths of the Labor-Green recession, 10,000 jobs were lost.”

“There will be a clear choice at the next election a majority Hodgman Government with a proven record of job creation and economic growth and a Labor-Green minority Government with a record of destroying jobs and driving the economy into recession.” Treasurer Gutwein said.
