The State Government is offering developers the rare opportunity to build residential terraces within a unique urban village planned at the historic Midland Workshops precinct.
Planning Minister John Day said 12 green titled riverside terrace lots were being offered for sale by tender, with titles expected in the first half of next year.
“These lots overlook the Helena River parkland and occupy the site where the former government Railway Workshops stood.” Mr. Day said.
“The lots will be sold in one line, providing developers and builders with a valuable opportunity to purchase much sought-after land in a prime location.”
The Minister said The Workshops site provided a range of development opportunities including residential and commercial spaces; offices; apartments; and terraced lots, expected to attract widespread attention within Midland’s revitalisation.
“Midland is expected to continue to experience strong employment prospects and a high population growth in the coming years and these terrace lots represent a very credible investment opportunity for developers and builders.” Mr. Day said.
“When complete, The Workshops will become a vibrant and dynamic area that builds upon its proud history to create a new era of residents, visitors and workers.
“The Workshops development has a unique heritage and is supported by strong infrastructure and local facilities. It is envisaged the development will incorporate high density and high amenity development with sustainable community living.” Mr. Day said.
