Housing Supply Improves With New Lots

Victoria Minister for Planning Matthew Guy

1,000 New Homes Boost Affordability And Create Jobs In Melbourne’s West

Victor P Taffa

Planning Minister Matthew Guy today joined Stockland to launch ‘Allura’, the first new community to be developed under the Truganina South Community Precinct Structure Plan.

Allura comprises 1,110 lots to accommodate approximately 3,450 residents. The development is part of the Precinct Structure Plan (PSP) approved by the Minister earlier this year for Truganina South.

The release of the residential lots is another action taken by the Victorian Coalition Government to improve housing affordability.

“This pivotal residential development has been made possible through a rigorous planning process led by the Growth Areas Authority in association with the Wyndham City Council and relevant government agencies, service authorities and major stakeholders.” Mr. Guy said.

“The Coalition Government supports developments like Allura which are well designed, sustainable and create attractive communities for people to make their home.”

“The new development is expected to generate 2,500 full time jobs during the construction phase and 800 ongoing jobs once completed.”

Allura aims to provide affordable housing for buyers seeking entry into Melbourne’s west and comprises recreation reserves and playgrounds, two schools, a neighbourhood shopping centre, natural conservation area and community centre.

The development provides 20 hectares of land to open space, including eight kilometres of walking paths and recreation reserves featuring playgrounds and fitness stations.

“Central to the Victorian Government’s vision is the need to improve housing affordability to give Victorians every chance to own a home.” Mr. Guy said.

The Truganina South PSP, a 250 hectare site bounded by Leakes Road and Palmers Road north of Hoppers Crossing, will provide for 2,500 dwellings accommodating up to 7,000 people.

A Developer Contributions Plan will collect $48 Million for community infrastructure, including the construction of the arterial road network in the Truganina South PSP.
