Victor P Taffa
Minister for Youth Affairs Ryan Smith has called for enthusiastic young Victorians aged 16 to 25 to apply to become the 2012 Victorian National Youth Week Young Member.
“The Youth Week Young Member will represent young people across Victoria during National Youth Week in April 2012.” Mr. Smith said.
At the national level, each State and Territory is represented by a National Youth Week Young Member.
“These young people play a vital role in directing the shape and success of National Youth Week. They are involved in all aspects of planning, developing, implementing and promoting National Youth Week across Australia.” Mr. Smith said.
The Victorian Coalition Government supports young people who are active in their community and passionate about issues facing young Victorians. National Youth Week is a chance for young people to celebrate their contribution to the community and have their voices heard.
“I encourage all young Victorians, from all walks of life, who have a passion for our community and want to get more involved to apply for the 2012 Young Member role.” Mr. Smith said.
The 2011 National Youth Week Young Member, Laura John, said it was great to play a key role in seeing young people acknowledged for their amazing work.
“I loved it! The whole experience, planning, training and then the actual week has given me a whole range of new skills.” Ms. John said.
National Youth Week is Australia’s biggest youth event and is run in April each year to showcase the contributions and talents of young people across the community.
