20% Rise In Glassing

20% Rise In Glassing

Queensland Opposition Leader John-Paul Langbroek

Labor Needs To Get Tough On Glassing

Victor P Taffa

State Opposition and Liberal National Party Leader JP Langbroek today said better enforcement and tougher sentencing laws were needed to combat the reported 20 % rise in glassing offences.

“The time for excuses is over. Labor’s Plan to reduce glassing is clearly failing.” Mr. Langbroek said.

Injuries caused by a glass or bottle numbered 135 last year compared to 109 cases in 2009.

“Glasses don’t throw themselves. Drunken thugs who commit these offences need to go to jail for a long time.” Mr. Langbroek said.

“Individuals need to be held responsible for their actions. Equally, the State Government needs to get serious on this issue, introduce better policies and get tougher on these offenders.”

“It’s time the justice system started meeting community expectations so a night out doesn’t become a nightmare.” Mr. Langbroek said.

“Labor talk will not reduce glassing. Action is what’s needed.”

“The Liquor Licensing division must be given the staff and resources it needed to deliver consistency of enforcement.” Mr. Langbroek said.

The very notion of glassing is quite a recent innovation and combined with binge drinking a sad indictment on society. The Hotels and Pubs are happy to have a love-in with Labor Government’s and both ignore their duty of care to stop this problem.

Glassing is one problem that has been created by Politicians who are supposedly better placed to Expand Railways or Tramways or sit in Parliament than Victor P Taffa.

Victor P Taffa previously worked in a Club in Sydney and Management were more concerned to do the bidding of the New South Wales Labor Government than give Victor P Taffa a fair go.
