Western Australia Minister for Local Government John Castrilli

Last Chance to Have Your Say on Proposed Cat Control Legislation

Victor P Taffa

Public Submissions for proposed State-Wide Domestic Cat Control Legislation close on Friday.

A Consultation Paper on the introduction of the legislation was released for Public Comment on June 9.

Local Government Minister John Castrilli said while a number of submissions had already been received, all comments were invited from anyone affected by the legislation, including cat owners, local governments and animal welfare organisations.

“I encourage all those who have not already done so, and who may be affected by the proposed cat legislation, to provide a submission.” Mr. Castrilli said.

“It’s important that feedback is received from a broad spectrum of the community for the State Government to make a well-informed decision on the legislation’s impact.”

Written submissions can be made to the Department of Local Government before Friday, July 30.

The consultation paper and other relevant information are available on the department’s website: http://www.dlg.wa.gov.au/ or phone 9217 1500 or 1800 620 511 (Country only).
