Road safety and transport efficiency for locals and tourists travelling on the Pinjarra – Williams Road will be improved, with a major contract awarded by the State Government.
Transport Minister Simon O’Brien said the $1.21 Million contract had been won by Southern Roads Services and would involve improvement works on Pinjarra-Williams Road between Marradong and Quindanning.
“The works involve widening and sealing two sections of the Pinjarra-Williams Road, totalling 3.5 kilometres.” Mr. O’Brien said.
“The road will be widened to a seven-metre wide seal, providing a safer separation of traffic lanes.”

Terry Waldron Wagin MLA
Wagin MLA Terry Waldron and Murray-Wellington MLA Murray Cowper have both welcomed the works, saying the road was becoming increasingly busy with rises in tourist traffic and road transport.
“The works are being funded under the State Government’s Safer Roads Program and part of an ongoing program to upgrade the Pinjarra-Williams Road.” Mr. Waldron said.
“The State Government is providing $220 Million over the next four years for targeted grants through the Safer Roads and State Black Spot program and it is pleasing to see that the Pinjarra-Williams Road has been included in that program.”

Murral Cowper Murray-Wellington MLA
Mr. Cowper said that 58 % of available road funding dollars would be spent on Country Roads this financial year, which would ensure the State’s roads network received much-needed upgrades.
“The Pinjarra-Williams Road is the next major South-West route needing an upgrade now that the Forrest Highway has been completed and this funding boost is sure to lessen crashes in the region.” Mr. Cowper said.
Works will begin soon and be completed by late July.
