A $300 Million package of commitments including an immediate re-investment in our metropolitan and regional hospitals will be the centre piece of a Redmond Liberal Government’s first term in office.
The Modbury Hospital which has had its services rundown and cut over the last eight years will immediately get $47 Million to re-instate obstetric services, intensive care and keep the emergency department open 24/7.
Isobel Redmond, Leader of the Opposition outlined a Redmond Liberal Government’s vision for SA at the Liberal Party’s 2010 election launch at the Norwood Town Hall.
“I have a real plan to ensure water security in SA, I have a real plan to repair South Australia’s ailing health system and to reinvigorate our neglected education sector and I have a real plan to secure jobs now and for the future.” Ms. Redmond said.
A Redmond Liberal Government will provide:
- $47 Million to upgrade and add services at Modbury Hospital
- $75 Million for country health
- $38 Million to provide an extra 4000 elective surgery procedures
- $4 Million for scholarships for medical and nursing students
- $52 Million to schools for focus on skills in math’s, science and English
- $17.5 Million in support for non-government schools
- $4 Million for extra school support officer hours
- $16 Million to establish programs to focus on under performing schools
- $5 Million seed funding for research & development of new green industries to be established at our new centre of excellence at Tonsley Park.
- Additional works across our metropolitan and country hospitals.
Today’s announcements build on previous commitments to cut Land and Payroll Tax, to re-build the Royal Adelaide Hospital on site saving $1 Billion, to spend $400 Million on a stormwater harvesting program to take pressure off the River Murray and to provide SA Police with practical measures and the tools to halt the rising violent crime.
This is a realistic no-nonsense program to begin to repair the economic and social damage the Rann Government has inflicted on SA after eight years of inaction, indecision and failure to deliver on promises.
A Redmond Liberal Government will turn SA around and once again turn this state into a “Can Do State”.
