Police charge man over stabbing incident – Hunter Valley

Police have arrested and charged a man over a stabbing incident overnight at Tarro in the State’s Hunter Valley.

Around 12.30am today, Police and Ambulance Paramedics received reports of a disturbance at a 21st birthday party in Northern Avenue.

When officers arrived, they located a 27-year-old man with a stab wound to his stomach.

He was transported to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital where he underwent surgery for the wound.

The alleged victim remains in a stable condition.

Another 27-year-old man from neighbouring Central Avenue was arrested at the scene.

The man was taken to the Maitland Police Station where he was charged with reckless wounding.

The man was refused bail and appeared today before the Maitland Local Court.

The man will face court again on Monday.
