Altona State By-Election 13 February 2010

Liberal Candidate Mark Rose will contest the Altona State By-Election to be held on Saturday 13 February 2010.
The By-Election follows the resignation of Labor member Lynne Kosky.
Mark Rose, a Policeman and local Councillor, is an experienced advocate who will use his skills to boost services in Altona, and ensure families get a fairer deal in the West and are no longer taken for granted by Labor.
Mark grew up in Werribee and attended Werribee High, before serving with the Royal Australian Air Force. Mark and his wife Anthea live in the Western Suburbs with their four children.
Mark has led an exciting and diverse career. As a Sergeant with Victoria Police, Mark has served the community for over 17 years. Since 2003, Mark has been a Councillor for the Wyndham City Council. Mark plays an active role in community groups and was awarded the National Medal for Police Service.
The resignation of Lynne Kosky gives the electors of Altona the best chance they will ever have to send Mr Brumby a strong message – that they want real action on their community’s needs.
The swing required to win the seat is 21% based on the 2006 State election.
